Rain Boots by the Wild Bird Society of Japan

Boots that work

Rain boots by the Wild Bird Society of Japan symbolise its work in enhancing access to nature, and support it by providing proceeds for conservation.

Practical Style

WBSJ rain boots were developed in response to the needs of birdwatchers. Originally adapted from Japanese rice farming footwear - they are foldable, lightweight and durable. The boots have subsequently found fans among festival goers, gardeners, dog walkers, and anyone affected by a sudden rainstorm.

Working for nature since 1934

The Wild Bird Society of Japan plays a vital role in conserving its country’s natural heritage. Since 1934 it has worked to secure the place of birds in their habitats, and to enrich the life of humans through encounters with nature. Today it is engaged in flagship projects to protect owl and crane species in north Japan, and in activities around the country. Its foundation story contains the central values that guide its work today.
